The EddyStudy app does not analyze or collect any user data.
In order to continuously improve EddyStudy, we would like to understand how the app is used.
For this purpose EddyStudy uses Google Analytics for Firebase. With this technology, information about the user’s device and information on how the app is used is transmitted anonymously to Google Firebase in the USA (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google Firebase evaluates this information on our behalf so that we can draw conclusions about how we should improve the app in terms of user experience, stability and security.
The user can select whether to use Google Analytics for Firebase when the app is first launched. The user can disable the use of Google Analytics for Firebase in the settings of the app at any time.
In case of a crash, the app sends an error report to us. This gives us information about the cause of the crash and the possibility to fix the error in a next update.
EddyStudy uses Firebase Crashlytics for this purpose. Google Firebase evaluates this information on our behalf so that we can draw conclusions about how we can fix the issue that caused the crash.
The user can select whether to use Firebase Crashlytics when the app is first launched. The user can disable the use of Firebase Crashlytics in the settings of the app at any time.
Users can capture photos from within the app and attach them to their flashcards. If a user chooses to do this, the app asks for permission to use the camera of the device.
Users can record audio clips from within the app and attach them to their flashcards. If a user chooses to do this, the app asks for permission to use the microphone of the device.
The app uses the VIBRATE permission to signal the user that the given answer to a flashcard was correct or incorrect.
The BILLING permission is used so that the user can purchase the Pro version of the app and to check if the Pro version was already purchased by the user.
EddyStudy allows users to share their flashcards with other users. If a user chooses to share his or her flashcards, the flashcards are securely transferred to our server by using SSL encryption. After the upload is complete the user receives a unique and random code which he or she can share with other users. The selected users are then able to use the code to download the uploaded flashcards from the server from within the app. After 3 days the flashcards are automatically removed from the server. If a user uploads another set of flashcards before 3 days have passed, the last upload by the user will be overwritten.
The permissions INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE are needed to upload and download shared flashcards. The permission WAKE_LOCK makes sure that the device does not enter sleep mode while flashcards are transfered.
